Right quality, right number, right time
The role of Supply Chain is to deliver quality products in the
right quantities to the right place at the right time. A team of
more than 2000 people makes sure this happens, in roles such as
manufacturing, engineering, quality, planning and logistics. The
diversity of our product range, together with the size and
complexity of our manufacturing facilities, presents massive scope
to make an impact on the business.
Working closely with our central support functions in the UK
(Hayes Park -Middlesex) and Ireland (Dublin), the Supply Chain
operates across six Heinz manufacturing sites in the UK &
Ireland - Hayes Park, Telford, Kendal, Westwick, Dundalk and Kitt
Green. These sites work with a huge and growing number of
manufacturers to ship around 700,000 tonnes of Heinz products a
year.
The manufacturing base is supported by the Logistics team from
the highly automated National Distribution Centre in Wigan, and
four other warehouses covering the frozen and ambient product
ranges throughout the UK and Ireland. These operations are a
combination of in-house and outsourced facilities, and are
geographically placed to ensure maximum flexibility and service for
our customers.
The safety of our employees, the environment and our consumers
are top priorities for Supply Chain. But the function also focuses
on our customer service levels, unit cost performance and delivery
of the product development programme. Supply Chain is also
constantly looking for ways to give Heinz a clear advantage over
our competition; whether it's through customer centricity, our
strengths in operational excellence or by leading the way through
business collaboration.
