What we’re looking for

The people who complete a one-year placement with Heinz come from every kind of background imaginable. They do have a fair few things in common though. These include an intense customer focus, a desire to continually develop themselves, exceptional communications skills, and the ability to work well with others. Plus of course, a real talent for delivering outstanding results, day in, day out.

Another thing we look for when we’re picking our placement participants is a mind that never stops thinking “what if?”, coupled with the motivation it takes to turn a good idea into reality.

You’ll also need to be a fast learner. Because our placements are real business roles, they typically run on a rolling basis - meaning you’ll be expected to pick up where your predecessor left off.

So if you’re a team player, preferably studying for (or graduated in) a degree related to the function you are applying for*, and you’re not afraid to think creatively, you’ll love our placement scheme. And we’ll be pretty keen on you too.

However, there are just a few practical things we need you to think about before applying. In order to be eligible, you must meet these minimum criteria:

  •     You must have a legal right to work in the UK on a fixed-term basis

·        You must possess, or expect to obtain, a degree with a minimum of a 2:2

·        You must be available to attend a one-day assessment centre on either Wednesday 23rd April 2008 (Hayes Park), Wednesday 21st May 2008 (Kitt Green) or Thursday 29th May 2008 (Hayes Park)

·        You must be available to start work on 23rd June 2008

·        If you are applying for the Finance, HR, or Marketing programme, you must be able to be based out of Hayes, Middlesex, UB4 8AL.

·        If you are applying for the R&D or I.T programme you must be able to be based out of Kitt Green, Wigan WN5 0JL. (The R&D position has now been filled for 2008)

·        If you are applying for the Commercial programme you must be able to be based out of Dublin, Ireland.

·        If you are applying for the Sales programme you must be able to be based out of Hayes Park, Middlesex, UB4 8AL. However you may be required to travel fairly extensively across the UK and so you must possess a full driving license.

·        All candidates will be required to be mobile as travel between UK & Ireland sites, as visits to customers or suppliers and travel to European sites is sometimes necessary.
